The Obverse

The coin shows Lady Liberty standing int he foreground of the Capital, with a torch in one hand, and an olive branch in the other; movement is created with her billowing dress and hair, giving her the overall appearance of majesty.
The Reverse
On the back of the coin is a more modern representation, tying the numismatic design with the present. First minted at the release of the coin in 1986, the design depicts an American Bald Eagle flying towards a nest with a mother eagle and her hatchling, as he extends an olive branch towards the pair. The inscriptions denoting the coins weight and purity are inscribed below the inspiring image.
