Dansco Coin Albums have been a longtime companion for both expert numismatists and beginning coin collectors. The Half Dimes 1794-1873 Dansco Album comes in a 1" binder and holds up to 114 coins. The album has 6 Dansco pages (series: 6120-1 to 6120-6). By far the most desired of all half dime coins is the 1870-S type. In July 2004, the 1870-S half dime sold for $661,250. This album holds and displays all Flowing Hair, Bust, and Liberty Half Dimes minted from 1794-1873. Note that the slots in the album are larger from 1794-1805. Half dimes from that mintage production measure 16.5 mm in diameter, the ones issued after 1805 are 15.5 mm. From 1794-1837 half dimes were made of 89.24% silver and 10.76% copper, each weighing 1.35 grams. Starting with the Liberty Seated Dimes in 1837 through 1873 the composition changed to 90% silver and 10% copper, each weighing 1.34 grams. An arrow was placed at the sides of the dates starting in 1853 to show that the coin went from 1.34 grams to 1.24 grams. Half Dimes were minted at the Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco Mints. Dansco Coin Albums have their pages attached with metal screws, making it easy to add and replace.
