Dansco Coin Albums have been a longtime companion for both expert numismatists and beginning coin collectors. The Morgan Dollars Date Set 1878-1921 Dansco Album comes in a 5/8" binder and holds up to 32 coins. The album has 3 Dansco pages (series: 7171 & 7172-1 to 7171 & 7172-3), each one holding and displaying Morgan dollars minted from 1878-1921. Englishman George T. Morgan, whose initial "M" appears on the obverse, was in charge of the design for the new 1878 dollar coin. It is interesting to note Morgan dollars' mintage was interrupted from 1905 to 1921. The low demand for the coin and the shortage of silver contributed to the melt down of 270,232,722 silver coins in 1918. Morgan dollars are made of 90% silver and 10% copper. They measure 38.1 mm in diameter, and each weighs 26.73 grams. Morgan dollars were coined at the Philadelphia, New Orleans, Denver, Carson City and San Francisco Mints. Dansco Coin Albums have their pages attached with metal screws, making it easy to add and replace.
